Put Me In Coach, I'm Ready to Play.....I think....

So Christy made the mistake of giving me the log-in information for the blog. I’m thinking she’s hoping that I’ll wax poetic about the pending birth of so called “Baby W.” (She don’t know me very well, do she?)

Up until almost three years ago, when my partner in crime at the office (Kim) had her baby, I can honestly say that I had very little idea of “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” However, over the course of those nine months I learned about such fascinating/disturbing topics as:

-Gestational diabetes
-Having to pee every 45 seconds
-Involuntary lactation
-Things turning purple
-Endless tests
-Gas
-Amniocentesis
-Hemorrhoids
-Epidurals
-…and finally The Episiotomy (or Kim as termed it when she called from the hospital “I have stitches in my a**.”)

Oh my...I wouldn’t wish that stuff on my worst enemy, let alone my wife!

But now, having been through a pregnancy (by proxy) I’m hoping that ours won’t be as intimidating since I know a little more of what’s involved….wishful thinking, maybe?

I’m trying to put the aforementioned list in the back of my mind, and to help with that I’ve begun compiling a list of GOOD experiences so far….

-Seeing the positive home pregnancy test….and the tears of joy that followed
-Seeing the first sonogram….and the tears of joy that followed
-Telling our parents….and the tears of joy that followed
-Hearing the heartbeat for the first time…..well, you get the idea

In the end I know that the good list will far outweigh the bad/painful one, and all the fears, anxiety, and intimidation will eventually fade away to make room for Baby.

Parenthood….I’m ready….bring it on!

So when you are up for the fourth time with Baby W within a 3 hour time span one night I would like to know if there will be tears of joy then.

Just kidding, I already know that answer. Been there, done it twice.;)
