Happy 4th of July Weekend!!!

Tomorrow marks the official halfway mark of my pregnancy. I'll be exactly 20 weeks. Where have the past 10 weeks gone? And I hope the next 20 weeks (give or take) go by just as fast!!

I had an exciting moment yesterday. One of my co-workers brought her 4 week old baby boy to the office for a visit. It was perfect! It was so exciting to hold him....knowing that I'll have my very own in a few months. I have a nephew, however when he was that little I was so not interested in babies. He was born a month before I met Jeff and having a baby was nowhere close in my mind. Now, I regret not getting diaper practice in! haha Holding the baby was very nice and it really 'hit home' for me. I even got to change his diaper (with the help of another co-worker) and amazingly that was the first diaper I have ever changed. I am not kidding!! That was the FIRST! I only gagged a little at the poop too! I know once OUR baby is here, I'll know what to do and it will be a natural, maternal instinct on what to do. I hope.

We've came up with a name...I think. We're not ready to share it with the world yet though. I think we want to 'try it out' for a bit and see if it sticks. I think its perfect! Last weekend we cleared out the room we will use as the nursery. It's basically a plain canvas for us to start creating his room now. I figured once we find the bedding and furniture, we'll know what colors we want to use. I'm assuming some shade of blue. I definitely want to go the cute route for his room. I figured this will probably be the only time in his life that I'll be able to decorate his room all cutesy. I'll save the sports and action figure themes for later. This weekend we plan to tackle cleaning out the closet in his room. I want to add a short shelf to the closet as well. Fun stuff! The next few weekends are busy for us so I want to tackle as much as possible now. We're also looking into New Parenting classes and an Infant CPR class. It doesn't hurt to know all we can!

The wedding coordinator at St. Joseph's, who we also do volunteer wedding rehearsals with, emailed me about getting my name added to the Prayers for Expectant Mothers section in our church bulletin. I thought that was such a nice gesture and a sweet thing to do. We also need to look into the New Parent/Baptismal class at the church as well. Jeff also talked to his mom about a Christening outfit. She sows so I thought it would be a great idea to turn my wedding dress into a christening outfit (or two). Its not like I'm ever going to wear it again!! It's still hanging in our guest closet begging for a dry cleaning. She mentioned that she still has Jeff's christening outfit! I think that would be a great tradition to start with our baby wearing the outfit his dad wore and so on. We'll see. I like both options right now!

I hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend!! We really don't have any big plans. We'll probably grill out and enjoy the pool (with sunscreen!) tomorrow. I bought a new maternity swimsuit at Target and I'm excited to wear it! Its a tad big right now, but I'm sure by the end of summer, it will fit fine!!

Enjoy the long weekend!

Christy,
You do not need to practice diapering. After the first day of changing your baby diaper 15 times you'll be a pro. Seriously, as Gail one time said, "I can change a diaper and make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich at the same time!" :P

Glad to hear everything is going well!
